Asset Discounted Cash Flow Tool

Our client builds container ships and needed a fast, consistent way to evaluate whether a new vessel investment pencils out before committing capital.

What we worked on

Custom Software

Background

We built a DCF valuation tool that takes vessel inputs - purchase price, TEU size, charter revenue, operating costs, drydock schedule - and returns NPV, IRR, and a clear investment signal in seconds. It runs sensitivity analysis on charter rates, models Best/Base/Worst case scenarios, and can compare up to 20 saved vessels side by side on one chart.

Challenges

Every vessel valuation was a bespoke spreadsheet, rebuilt or copy-pasted for each deal. Formulas drifted between versions, comparing two vessels meant manually lining up two workbooks, and there was no shared source of truth for the assumptions behind a NPV or IRR number.

Outcome

Every valuation now runs through the same tested engine, with NPV and IRR checked against a reference financial model so the numbers are trusted. Inputs can come from a manual form, a file upload, or a saved record, and the whole team compares vessels from one shared tool instead of emailing spreadsheets around.
